Berks churches schedule in-person and virtual services [Religion Digest]

March 19—-Christ Episcopal Church, 435 Court Street, Reading, will hold three worship services on Sunday, all including the Holy Eucharist: at 8 a.m. a said service (no music); at 9 am, a service for families with young children; and at 10:15 a.m., a service with music. The 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. services will be Rite 1. Masks are optional. Parking is available at the Abraham Lincoln parking lot and the M&T Bank parking lot, both off Washington Street. Parking next to the church on Court Street is available for people with disabilities or who need assistance. Michael Molina’s “Soup and Spirituals” Lenten series continues in the Parish Hall after the 10:30 a.m. service. On Thursdays at 11 a.m., the Book of Common Prayer Morning Prayer Service will be held in the Red Bridge Recreation Area, weather permitting. —Schwarzwald Lutheran Church, 250 Church Lane Road, Exeter Township, will hold in-person worship on Sundays at 10:30 a.m. A Wednesday Lenten service will be held at 7 p.m. Unvaccinated people must wear a mask. The registered service will be available the next day on Facebook.

—Reformation Lutheran Church, 3670 Perkiomen Ave., Exeter Township, will hold in-person worship Sunday at 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Masks are optional. The 10:30 a.m. service will be streamed live on the Reformation Facebook page and can be viewed later on www.Reformationlutheran.org under worship videos. Sunday school for all ages begins at 9:30 a.m. The Reformation Lenten devotional, written by members of the congregation, is available in the gathering space. Lenten Wednesdays include dinner of soup, salad and bread at 5:45 p.m. in the parish hall, Holden evening prayer at 7 p.m. (will also be broadcast live) in the sanctuary, and Lenten study with the Reverend Paul Metzloff at 7:30 p.m. in the parlor.

Zion and St. Paul’s United Church of Christ congregations will worship together at 301 W. Penn Ave., Robesonia, Sunday at 10:15 a.m. in person as well as through YouTube, Facebook and by phone. The choir will sing “Jesus Lover of My Soul” by John Purifoy. Refreshments are served for a social time after the service. The Wednesday evening prayer service at 6:30 p.m. will be in person, on YouTube and by phone and will feature Reverend Bob Masenheimer as Disciple Peter and Terry Pastor as Reporter in a dialogue titled “Dateline Jerusalem.” Find details at 1zion.org or sprucc.org.

—Kissinger’s Church, 715 Berkshire Blvd., Wyomissing, will host Sam Rohrer Wednesday at 7 p.m. He will talk about the situation in Ukraine.

—Schwarzwald United Church of Christ, 75 Church Lane Road, Exeter Township, will hold an in-person and Zoom service on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. It will also be available on YouTube. — Good Shepherd United Church of Christ Tuckerton, 170 Tuckerton Road, Muhlenberg Township, continues its series of “Good Enough” Lenten worship services on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. in person or via Facebook Live. —Maidencreek Church, 261 Main St., Maidencreek Township, will hold a hybrid worship Sunday at 9 a.m. which will include the blessing of prayer shawls. Special music includes a clarinet solo by Maynard Koplin, a duet with Miles Esterly on piano and Chris Esterly on percussion, a piano solo by Kimberly Ayrton, a selection from the Senior Choir, and two congregational hymns. . —St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 5 W. Arch St., Fleetwood, will have two worship services in the sanctuary on Sunday, at 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. The 9 a.m. service will also be available on Facebook and YouTube; links can be found at www.stpaulsfleetwood.org. “Look at the Lamb” will be performed by the Chancel Choir at 10:30 a.m. Worship leaders will be Alexis Ames at 9 a.m. and Steve Wentz at 10:30 a.m. There will be a Lenten service at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
