Browns Place Pro Bowl Ward Corner on COVID-19 Reserve List | Sports

CLEVELAND – Browns Pro Bowl cornerback Denzel Ward has been placed on the COVID-19 reserve list and will miss Sunday’s season final against Cincinnati.

Ward was already questionable with a groin injury suffered in Monday’s loss to Pittsburgh. The fourth-year corner recorded three interceptions, including a 99-yard touchdown return that set the tone in Cleveland’s 41-16 win over the Bengals on Nov. 17.

The Browns will end a disappointing season without Ward and linebacker Malcolm Smith, also placed on the COVID-19 roster.

Greedy Williams is said to be Ward’s likely replacement in the starting lineup, but he suffers from a shoulder injury and was listed as questionable in Friday’s injury report.

The Browns have activated running back Ernest Johnson from the COVID-19 roster, and the timing is right as Nick Chubb (ribs / chest) and Kareem Hunt (ankle) are struggling with injuries and can sit up.
