Delhi MCD elections: AAP releases first list of 134 candidates

The Aam Aadmi party released its first list of 134 candidates for the MCD elections in Delhi on Friday. The 250-ward Delhi Municipal Corporation (MCD) goes to the polls on December 4 and the counting of votes will take place on December 7.

Meanwhile, the main campaigners for the polls are Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, MPP Rajendra Pal Gautam, who recently resigned as minister amid a row over attending a religious conversion event, and former cricketer and serving member of Rajya Sabha Harbhajan Singh.

The list of 30 also includes the likes of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Delhi MP CM Manish Sisodia and Rajya Sabha members Sanjay Singh, Raghav Chadha and ND Gupta.

The list of star Aam Aadmi party activists also includes Delhi and Punjab cabinet ministers such as Kailash Gahlot, Gopal Rai, Imran Hussain and the new Raaj Kumar Anand.

The list also includes party MPs such as Durgesh Pathak, Vishesh Ravi, Atishi, Saurabh Bhardwaj and ministers.

The BJP has been in power within the MCD – trifurcated in 2012 into North, South and East companies, then unified this year – for three consecutive terms. Civic polls widely seen as a three-way competition between the BJP, AAP and Congress
